The sun rose steadily higher in the sky. I was wide awake, having slept ten hours the night before. Tall buildings faded away, and trees were most frequently seen now. Mani, my male cat, sat calmly on my lap while crazy Guinness, the female kitty, was in a pet carrier.
Any moment now, the mansion would be in sight. Mani mewed restlessly. “I know, I know, I wanna get out of the car, too.” I shushed him. Behind me were the Cleeserpaynes. I suppose you should know what was going on.
About three years ago, some long-lost relative of mine—Mark Chlorophion— had died: along with his best friend, Tim Cleeserpayne. They were crazy rich, and all their possessions went to ‘the most direct living descendants of us’. That’s what their newly-discovered will said.
“We’re here!” Mom called.
“Uh, finally!” I groaned, picking Mani up. Mom opened my door, and I winked at Elizabeth. “C’mon, let’s go in!”
The place was really a mansion! It was sort of rundown inside, though. It was on great condition outside! Jacob whistled. Elizabeth and I looked around, speechless. Jacob, Elizabeth, Elizabeth’s brother, Logan, and I decided to explore. There were three large floors, and an attic. On the first floor, there was a kitchen, a huge and full library, a cozy living room, a foyer, a staircase up to the second floor, and two bedrooms. Of course, there were open spots and halls, a full bathroom, a half bath, and a coat closet. The ground floor bedrooms would be Grandma’s and Elizabeth’s nana’s. The second floor had Jacob’s bedroom, Logan’s bedroom, a large, windowed room that was perfect for the Cleeserpaynes’ dog, and a full bathroom. A landing was there, too. The third floor had a whole lot of open space, a room that would be Mom and Dad’s, a room that would be Mr. Kevin and Mrs. Catherine’s, and a large bedroom that would be mine and Elizabeth’s. All three bedrooms had full bathrooms attached. Many handy closets were scattered throughout the house. We all unpacked what we’d brought. Everything we didn’t want, we’d sold. We were crazy rich now. It was slightly overwhelming, but I supposed I’d get used to it eventually. Basically, we had sold everything except clothes, everyone’s Nintendo DSs, and Elizabeth’s Wii, Wii remotes, and Wii games. We were prepared to start over new.
Five minutes later, we piled into Mom’s car and Mrs. Catherine’s car; prepared to go shopping for new stuff. First, however, we went out to dinner at Golden Corral. Finally, at five, we got to go shopping. Grandma’s room was done in pink, purple, and floral patterns; Nana’s in pale blue. The parents’ rooms were to be done in shades of brown and pale green or light red and the kitchen was a violent shade of orange. The library was redone in pastel blues, greens, and yellows; bathrooms done in gray and royal purple. The dog’s room was made clear with a wall of obstacles. The living room was renovated in brown and pink. We went to a weirder room décor store after that. Logan chose the ‘Volcano’ package. His room would be like the inside of a volcano, minus temperature. Logan’s bed was something that looked like a hollowed-out rock full to the brim with magma. Jacob decided on the ‘Underground’ style. His room would be like an underground tunnel, leading to a gold mine. His room was to be dark and brown, with a bed that looked like a lump of gold. Elizabeth and I took forever to chose, so many themes and styles looked so cool! In the end we picked out the ‘Rainforest’ style. Ours was the most expensive, but nobody seemed to care. We’d have real trees, vine to use and make stuff with, and a rain system. We decided to get a rainforest sounds system, too. Next, we went to a backyard décor store.
(I made up the names (obviously) and I am only about one-sixteenth of the way finished!)
