Stupid pests! thought the she-cat, wondering how seagulls had made it this far without extinction. One sat on the other side of the clearing, simply looking around cluelessly for a scrap of food. This will be easy. Oceanmist smirked and put her weight on her back legs, preparing to pounce on her future prey. One...two...
Suddenly a large gust of wind came by, causing her scent to carry over to the seagull - and the "idiotic" bird didn't think twice before flying away in a mess of feathers. Trying to fly after it, Oceanmist instantly slipped and fell into a huge mess of soggy marsh. The filthy water made its way into her mouth, and the ShimmerClan cat choked and spit at the horrid taste. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" The loud yowl obviously didn't help with her failure as a dozen other birds flew off in fear. "Well, great. That's just greeattt." said Oceanmist in an extremely annoyed tone. She stood and shook the mess off her pelt, but it didn't help as her fur stood in all different ends, causing her to look like one big 'puffball.' Her stomach moaned in hunger, and she growled to herself. Only me, yes, only the clumsy she-cat who can't catch one bit of prey.[/blockquote]

A soft laugh came from seemingly nowhere, before a bright red tom stepped out from behind one of the rocks, humor flashing in his brown eye. Good natured Cardinalfeather wasn't always the most seen warrior in ShimmerClan, he was usually patroling or fighting, but his sense of humor was well known. It was to be noted that he wasn't exactly laughing at Oceanmist, rather, it was her reaction that humored him. Turning his head at her slightly, the warrior was obviously in high spirits, even as the wind tried to throw him off of the ledge. If anyone could brighten a day, it probably would be Cardinalfeather.
"Not having much luck, are you?" Leaping down from the rock, the warrior's gazed was curious and playful, he was sometimes more of an apprentice then an actual warrior. Although he did have the moments when being serious occured, it was rare to see him like that. Unless of course, he was on a patrol. That was a totally different thing, right? Still chuckling ever so slightly, his gaze on Oceanmist's, Cardinalfeather offered a shrug. "Seagulls. Incredibly idiotic, but smart all in the same. You must have just got a touch of bad luck with you today, sadly." Grinning slightly, he bowed, looking more and more like an apprentice with every flashing moment. "Cardinalfeather, good luck charm, at your service M'lady."
Oh my, look who was being the proper gentleman now. Well, he always had been taught manners were important.

Oceanmist heard a voice speak behind her and closed her eyes in an even further annoyance. Just my luck, she thought to herself. Maybe I'll be lucky and it won't be too much of an embarrassing conversation. She turned around and the cat began speaking, but she didn't recognize him. "Oh, hello, Cardinalfeather." She said, stepping closer and attempting to shake her ruffled fur into a flatter shape. "I can't believe we're in the same Clan and we haven't met...I'm Oceanmist, bad luck charm extraordinar." The she-cat began licking her fur, trying to calm it down; it amazed her how it only took a few simple licks to return it to its glossy self. "So, what brings you all the way out here to watch me embarrass myself?" Her paws remained wet as she stood in so near to the water, but what was she to do? Oceanmist looked to the sky and smiled, sunset: her favorite part of the day. "Oh, sunset!" This new cat would soon realize that she didn't stick to one thought very long. She ventured over out of the trees to a small clearing where she could sit and watch the sky painted with so many colors it could be described as a 'splattered canvas.' She turned and waved her tail for the cat to join her, but whether or not she was interesting enough for him to walk over was the tom's choice.[/blockquote]

"That may be because of the fact I'm not usually in camp." The tom said with a faint smile. How true that was, although one could usually meet him on patrols, where he was very active, but a lot softer spoken then right now, when it was just one other cat he was speaking too. He wasn't a young warrior, more so middle aged in experiance, yet the determination he put in every task fooled others into thinking he was that young again. Maybe when he was an elder he would be able to trick others into thinking he was just a senior warrior, who would know? It would be a challenege, but then again. Cardinalfeather was all for the challenege. "Pleasure to meet you one of bad luck, Oceanmist." Winking playfully at the she cat, it was a wonder he didn't have cats chasing after him, while he ran had just had a good time with the game. Everything was a game for him, through ice, snow, sleet or sun, all the time was a time to have fun! Maybe age would slow him down, but living for the moment had a way of living forever.
"Why, the sheer chance at a show was what brought me." Chuckling to himself, was there something wrong with this tom?, Cardinalfeather shook his head. "You happen to forget your standing on good hunting land, maybe I had the same intention as you, to catch some prey for my clan, or myself." Streching, so the last true rays of the sun could catch his pelt, the tom watched in amusment as one thought went to the next, reminding him of the apprentice Dazedpaw. Deciding to follow his new cat he had somehow never met before, Cardinalfeather gazed up in wonder at the sky above him, filled with hues of all different colors, bleeding out from the strongest colors, closest to the sun. "So many different colors." He said softly, still gazing up at the sight above. It would be only moments before the sun was gone for the day, and night took place of day.

"Oh, I'm very much aware that this is hunting land - but it takes a bit of luck to catch someting." Oceanmist said with a smirk; the sunset always put her into a much better mood. The blues faded into purples that faded into reds that faded into oranges that faded into yellows...colors were pretty. So many different colors... he said, and Oceanmist chuckled to herself. "I love the colors more than anything, but night is so much more exciting than day, don't you think? You can do more, and once you're a warrior the Clan can finally stop pestering you about being out. Unless, of course, you have a secret." The she-cat stretched and looked at Cardinalfeather, the charmer? Yes, he was a charmer - or he attempted to be, at least. "So, Cardinalfeather," she enjoyed saying the name, it rolled off her tongue so pleasantly. "If you aren't in camp, where does someone like you run off to? Patrols and training is never exciting enough to sustain you for such a long time." Oceanmist began thinking she could learn to befriend this tom, he wasn't the same as all the others.[/blockquote]

"Might I remind you, M'lady Oceanmist, that I am good luck extrodinar?" A smrik playing out on the young looking features of the red brown tom, as though the fact he was with a cat who had bad luck, while he was like a magnet to good luck, amused him. Maybe it did, you see, a lot of things often amused the tom. Life amused the tom. It was rare to ever find him in a bad mood, and if he was, it was a moment to forever be preserved in clan history. I mean, whats more dramatic then the easiest go lucky warrior having a moment? "Everyone has a secret to protect, be it dark or light. And being an apprentice was a lot of fun. I always was breaking the rules, staying out too long, and almost got myself killed under the waves once." Chuckling, even at the thought of his own demise, Cardinalfeather rolled his eyes, as though that was the last time he had tried that again. Well, not really. You can't stop the stubborn.
Obviously somewhat excited at her question, Cardinalfeather shook his head. There were so many things to do outside of camp, and away from the patrols. Even though they could be a lot of fun, there were so many better things to be doing after they had all been completed. Clan saftey always came first though, so while he appeared to be enjoying the patrols, he was usually more sober on them, in truth, he just wanted to be free, away from them. "Well, there are a number of things. Recently, I've taken up exploring everywhere. Those trails everyone thought to be broken just because there was a lrage gap in the middle of them? Well, there are things beyond them that nobody would ever expect. Of course, getting across is tricky, but what else is there really to do?
Looking at her, grinning ever so slightly, he seemed to want to show her something. He was going to wait for her to ask what though.

Oceanmist looked at Cardinalfeather as he said those first words, smiling."Well, as they say: opposites attract, maybe with your good luck we can catch something." Though just as she said this, he began speaking of adventures or exploring. That sounded more exciting; a more justifiable reason to stay out of camp - where she would never see her brother, and where she could have more fun. As he spoke of his apprenticeship, Oceanmist sighed. Hers was filled with nothing but boring events. "I wish my apprenticeship had been that exciting...my parents did nothing but fight while my brother and I began to hate each other." she said, when she suddenly paid attention to the last thing he said. "Oh, trails? Please show me, that is if I'm worthy of being shown." Smiling, Oceanmist awaited a response. She wanted to see something exciting, something that would make her truly laugh for the first time in a while - not many cats could do that anymore.[/blockquote]

Tilting his head at her slightly in a curious fashion, Cardinalfeather seemed to have forgotten what the cause of Oceanmist even being out on the ledge had been. Getting so caught up in the ever changing events did that to him, living for the moment, and often forgetting even his own name if things got really exciting. "Mother always said I had no manners, so you must pardon me. I seem to have forgot to ask what exactly you were doing out here, and to ask if you wanted something to eat. How shameful of me." Dropping his head toward the ground, his good humor gone for the moment as he seemed to become depressed for a moment over what had happened to his manners; they had run away without him it seemed. Suddenly, his head snapping back up, a bright light in his eyes, the warrior dashed through the small bushes, and then, the ground seemed to fly through the air, before he trotted back with a gull in his jaws. "It isn't fresh, but its still good." In an almost apologetic manner, he dropped the prey at Oceanmist's paws, bowing slightly, and then padding back to the spot where he had been, back into his good mood. Mood swings, if you wanted to call them that.
Ears flicking as she spoke about her apprenticeship, a sad smile came across his maw, and Cardinalfeather gently flicked her with his tail, as though saying he was sorry for that as well. He was just too good natured, trying to solve everyone's problems, or at least make them feel better about it. It would eventually get him in trouble, some day. For now though, it seemed that it was a good thing. Ears perking up as she wanted to see the trails he had found, Cardinalfeather sniffed at the ground slightly, before walking off in a direction, and then seeming to be swallowed by a wall of stone. Looking back, it seemed he was only a floating head now, he beamed and beckoned for her to follow him. This was a newer trail, it was just the jump that was harder then anything else. A good few fox tails, it was one only the fittest could make; it was a wonder Cardinalfeather could do it. He would wait to jump though, until Oceanmist came along, if she wanted too.

Oceanmist stood dazed for a moment, unable to say anything as this tom she'd just met randomly caught something for her. The she-cat had never met a tom within their Clan that cared so much about manners; it was a nice change. "Why, thank you, Cardinalfeather." She took a few bites but felt awkward all the same, while she sat there eating the food she hadn't caught herself.
All of the sudden, Cardinalfeather began walking into the foggy unknown and became a simple floating head, only before beckoning for her to join him. She smiled and left her gull unfinished; this would surely be more exciting. "Lead the way." She said and flicked her tail forward. This was going to be a fun night.

Waiting until she reached the ledge, a stone skittered down and landed with a 'splash' sound that did nothing to calm one, should they have fears of falling, Cardinalfeather winked at her, before crouching down and preparing to jump. "The trick is to not let your mind say you can't do it, don't let even an ounce of fear go through you." Suddenly sprining forward, Cardinalfeather cleared the gap with what looked like ease, ears flattened as the wind rushed past him, trying to throw him backward, and into the chasm. Landing softly on the other side, he whirled to look at Oceanmist, eyes dacing with a kit like energy. It was the thrill of a jump, knowing that he defied gravity for one moment, and lived to tell the tale. It got everyone who jumped, although it was rare to find someone active enough to actually make the attempt. No apprentices were usually allowed to jump either, at least, not on their own. Cardinalfeather was the most active though, and probably all his apprentices would know how to jump after their apprenticeship was over.
"This place is always amazing. Come on, the jump isn't too hard. Just beware of the wind." The tom called out, amber eyes gleaming still as he waited for Oceanmist. What a strange day this must be for her, just trying to get something to eat, and then meeting Cardinalfeather. Sometimes, he could swear he was worse then Dazedpaw for all the energy he had.

ooc; what if i just made her die, right now? xD
Oceanmist smiled and stepped back a few foxlengths, though still in full view of the pass. She gathered her haunches and surged forward, seeing the edge come closer and closer until she was practically flying. The wind made her eyes water, but she didn't care - was this what birds felt like? She'd love to be a bird, if that were the case...no matter how stupid they were. The warrior, however, had stopped paying attention for a moment and flown too far, landing on Cardinalfeather and they rolled a few paces backward. As long as it wasn't toward the cliff, Oceanmist didn't care.
She began laughing until she realized that she was practically on top of him, and she scrambled to her paws in embarassment. "Haha, sorry. So, where to now?" The she-cat looked around eagerly, as if she, too, were a little kit excited about an adventure.

((OOC: Cardinalfeather would become a nervous wreck, and then try to follow her. He would think it was his fault. xD))
Seeing Oceanmist fly at him, Cardinalfeather wasn't fast enough to back away, and when Oceanmist hit him, the two went rolling a fair distance. Laughing slightly, even as the two skidded on the rough surface. Extracting himself from the she cat, a mischevious glint in his amber eyes, he laughed at Oceanmist's expression. "Well, she cats don;t usually get so open until after they have been around me for some time." Winking to show it was a joke, sometimes others really couldn't just understand him, Cardinalfeather shook his pelt free of dirt, and grinned slightly.
"This way. Its a sharp walk though, so be prepared." Without waiting for a reply, the young tom dashed off. Within moments though, he had slowed to a stop. The wind here had done something with the stone, and now, little pricks were everywhere. Because of his bold nature, Cardinalfeather often didn't stop, even when in pain, and that would be why there was a trail of blood on the stone, in the shape of paw prints. As soon as he reached the other side though, he whirled around to wait for Oceanmist, ignoring his still bleeding pads.
"Its not so bad!" He called out, encouraging the she cat.
